Time: 11:00AM

Racer’s must be at least 7 years old, no more than 16 years old.  Races will be classed by age and weight. The annual Soap Box Derby is sponsored by the Lapeer Rotary Club and Cypress Computers and is staffed by the Lapeer High School Robotics Team. It’s always good clean, non-motorized fun and has been enjoyed by generations of families over the years.
COME OUT AND HAVE SOME DERBY FUN!

Note: Cars are launched from a large ramp to give them a little added momentum for the downhill race.   The course is straight down the hill and there is a soft barricade built of straw bales about 3/4 of the way down the hill.  Drivers are required to wear protective head gear and traffic is stopped at the bottom of the hill at Saginaw Street during the race as a safety precaution in case one of these “hi-tech” roadsters kicks the after burners on and makes a run for downtown!

If you’d like to create your own car, here are some detailed instructions on how to do so.
